Navis DP5000 as part of a new training complex

An ultra-modern training complex has been installed in the Moscow Training and Simulator Center of the Marine Rescue Service, which includes a navigation simulator with a DYNPOS-2 class dynamic positioning control system integrated with a GMDSS simulator.

The training complex combines a full-featured navigation bridge with a three-dimensional visualization of the environment, consisting of two semi-circular systems of 180 degrees horizontally each, the operator’s position of the Navis NavDP4000 Maintenance dynamic positioning control system (DPCS), an auxiliary radar / ARPA bridge (radar system and automatic radar pads), GMDSS operator training stations, etc.
The number of training places for simulators is determined in accordance with the requirements of the Recommendations of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport on the organization of the activities of training and simulator centers based on 10 trainees in a group.

Navis DP5000, which is part of the complex, is a real, redundant DYNPOS-2 class DMS. The capabilities of the simulator make it possible to simulate any failures and emergency situations during the performance of operations, which significantly increases the effectiveness of training in working with such a class of ICS.

The training complex of the Maritime Rescue Service will ensure the training of captains-coordinators and specialists of the marine fleet to work with VTS in accordance with the standards of The Nautical Institute (an international professional organization for marine specialists), IMO requirements for DYNPOS-2 class VTS, as well as navigators and anchor ship operators. winches of sea tugs and ships ensuring the safety of drilling platforms during anchor operations.

All training is simulated by the computer of the training complex. At the moment, it includes twelve models of vessels from a bulk carrier to a diesel-electric icebreaker and twelve navigation areas from the Strait of Gibraltar to Sabetta. During the course of the lesson, the instructor can offer cadets various introductions with increased wind, unexpected heavy precipitation or a sudden storm.

This is the fourth navigation simulator with a dynamic positioning system in Russia and the second after the university in Novorossiysk, equipped with a real DYNPOS-2 class ATMS.

The training complex meets all modern international and national requirements for simulators of this type and is equipped with the most modern equipment for controlling the positioning of the ship.

In the Training Center of the Marine Rescue Service there are classes for the construction of ships and ship recovery, diving training, diving medicine, emergency rescue operations, damage control of ships, training of navigators of small size vessels, a simulator room for a remote-controlled uninhabited underwater vehicle (ROUV), as well as simulators (simulators) various types. After the installation of a new training complex, the training center claims to be the most equipped in the country.

Diving catamaran pr.SDS18 is equipped with a DP system

The marine multifunctional catamaran of the SDS18 project, built at the Okskaya Shipyard, was equipped with a dynamic positioning control system of the DYNPOS-1 class.
The DP system is designed for automatic, semi-automatic and manual control of vessel maneuvers during the survey of the bottom and underwater objects, the operation of underwater remote-controlled vehicles. It also provides for automatic holding of the position of the vessel relative to the bottom using an underwater hydroacoustic positioning system.

The main characteristics of the vessel:
Overall length, m: 46.20
Width, m: 13.50
Width of one building, m: 4.40

DP system for icebreaking support vessel

Dynamic positioning control system for the new multifunctional icebreaker ARC130A with a capacity of 22 MW.

The control system complies with the requirements of the DYNPOS-2 class and uses an unusual set of ship propulsion devices: two full-turn rudder propellers in the stern, a tunnel thruster in the bow and an additional third rudder in the bow.
This set of propulsion devices, their placement, as well as the shape of the hull and bottom of the vessel were specially developed by the Aker Arctic Research Center for operation in the ice of the Arctic in shallow water conditions.
According to the project, the ship will be able to overcome 2-meter flat ice with 30 cm of snow cover fore and aft, and have high maneuverability in clear water and in ice conditions.
The vessel’s excellent icebreaking properties have been successfully demonstrated in model tests at the ice laboratory of the Aker Arctic Research Center in Helsinki, Finland. Aker Arctic expects the new vessel to be comparable to the well-known nuclear-powered icebreakers Taimyr and Vaigach in terms of icebreaking capabilities, but will require about 40% less propulsion power.
Previously, two vessels were built with a similar configuration of propulsion devices (the Baltika icebreaker, the Polaris icebreaker), but the ARC130A project has a DP-2 class, more power and a higher ice class.

Two icebreakers of this project are being built by the order of Gazpromneft Novy Port LLC at the Vyborg Shipyard. Both vessels will operate at the Arctic terminal of the Novoportovskoye field, located in the west of the Gulf of Ob on the Yamal Peninsula. Vessels are designed to ensure the shipment of oil, icebreaking assistance to tankers, rescue operations, towing ships, fire fighting, and participation in oil spill response operations.

The main characteristics of the vessel:
Maximum length, m: 121.7 m
Maximum width, m: 26.0 m
Maximum draft, m: 8.2 m
Maximum speed, knots: 16
Power of propulsion devices:
thrusters: 2 x 7500 kW (stern), 1 x 6500 kW (bow)
tunnel thruster: 1800 kW (bow)
